Impact on Childhood Development
Postpartum depression (PPD) can have a lasting, negative impact on childhood development.
Children can experience:

Isolation

Confusion

Anxiety

Guilt

Anger
PPD can negatively affect the whole family. When parents are suffering from PPD, children might internalize negative thoughts and emotions. The emotional toll of PPD can cause parents to socially withdraw from their children. As a result, children may find it difficult to talk about what they are going through. Ultimately, these negative emotions can build, and over time, lead to anxiety and depressive disorders.
Long-term exposure to Postpartum Depression can increase the risk of:

Delays in social & emotional development

ADD/ADHD

Cognitive delays

Lack of curiosity

Trouble thinking logically

Anxiety disorders

Chronic diseases
