Our Team

Hello, my name is Jose Herrera Murga. I am a junior at Mount San Jacinto College and my major is Biology. I decided to join FPL because I wanted to learn and help my community, as well as have the opportunity to be able to shadow a physician. I like the topic of postpartum depression because I have the chance to learn about an unfamiliar topic. FPL gave me the opportunity to inform and address my community on why PPD is important.
Hello! My name is Eva Nelson, and I am a junior at Amherst College. I am pursuing majors in both Biology and Sexuality, Women's and Gender Studies (S.W.A.G.S.). I joined FPL because I wanted to learn how to establish environments in both research and medicine that are more inclusive and conscious about health and social disparities impacting marginalized communities. I am interested in our topic because I previously did not know anything about postpartum depression (PPD). I am glad that I have the opportunity to apply my understanding of social health determinants to PPD.

Hello. My name is Anthony Nguyen. I am an incoming second-year majoring in Biochemistry at UCR. I joined FPL because I want to be involved in community health education development to make an impact on the health of my local community. I was not familiar with PPD at the beginning, but as I continued to immerse myself on the topic of mental health, I saw the importance of such awareness and the need to spread such prevalent health issues. I find it vital to address them together with others.
Hello! My name is Sean Patel. I am a second-year Cell, Molecular, Developmental Biology Major at UCR. I joined FPL because I wanted to learn the best methods of serving our underserved communities. In the future, I want to specialize in the field of psychiatry thus upon hearing about postpartum depression, I became intrigued to learn more on how PPD ravages the mind and tactics we can employ to overcome it.

My name is Zainab Rangwala. I am in my third year of pursuing a bachelor of science in Biochemistry and a minor in Education at the University of California Riverside. I joined FPL to explore the scope and impact of health education on the community. I want to spread awareness about PPD to counter the stigma against such a prevalent mental health issue that people face during what is meant to be the happiest moments of their lives.
Hello! My name is Kimberly Wilkerson. I am an incoming 4th year at UC Riverside majoring in Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology. I became a future physician leader in an effort to bring awareness to Riverside and San Bernardino Counties about health disparities and inequalities. I became interested in postpartum depression due to my lack of knowledge of the topic. As I continued researching, I found that PPD has a disproportionate impact on my community. I want to raise awareness because it is very important.
